Army Dragon Boat Paddlers Capture 2 Golds in Zambales

FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City---The Philippine Army Dragon Boat Team dominated the just-concluded 1st Zambales Dragon Boat Festival held in Uacon Lake, Candelaria town, Zambales.

Yesterday, Nov 26, the Army team bagged its first gold in 400m Men's event with a fastest time of 1minute and 35.65secs.

Today, the team easily pocketed another gold in the 250m Men's event, clocking 1:03.88 (min,secs).

Several dragon boat club teams participated in the race organized by Zambales Governor Hermogenes Ebdane Jr.

Among the competitors were veterans in local and international races such as the  Triton team, Onslaught and La Salle.

Powered by the 7 members of the world-class athletes popularly known as the Pinoy Dragon Warriors, the team duplicated their accomplishment in the Camsur International Dragon Boat Festival held in CWC complex in September.

Army Chief Major General Emmanuel Bautista has extended his congratulations to the members of the team.

The Army paddlers are also expected to participate in the upcoming dragon boat racing to be held in Manila Bay on December 4, 2011.
