5 soldiers hurt by NPA landmine in North Cotabato


MAKILALA, North  Cotabato---Five soldiers were hurt when suspected NPA rebels detonated a roadside bomb as a military vehicle carrying them passed by at around 10:45pm on Friday, Jan. 25.

The KM 450 truck of the 57th Infantry Battalion was heading back towards the headquarters of the 602nd Infantry Brigade in Bgy  Kisante here when 3 unidentified suspects detonated the bomb. 

The wounded soldiers were immediately brought to a local hospital for treatment as another group of soldiers led by Lt Carag was sent to pursue the attackers. 

The soldiers are now in stable condition. 

Communist rebels here have continuously employed roadside bombs to inflict casualties among the soldiers. 

The use of landmines is prohibited in the international humanitarian law and it is also a violation to the Comprehensive Agreement on the Respect of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL) that was signed by GRP and CPP-NDF panels.
