An inter-clan fighting locally known as 'rido' erupted in the remote village of Elian, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao yesterday at 3:00pm (Nov 19) a military report said.
Two warring factions of the Moro rebel groups clashed due to unsettled differences. One group was led by a certain Commander Fahad of the MILF's 118th Base Command while the other was led by a certain Commander Mutin of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters.
Sporadic gunfires were heard until in the evening. Commander Mutin was reported killed in the fighting.
There were similar clashes among the different warring factions in the recent weeks. The clashes occurred inside the MILF-influenced communities.
As part of the ceasefire agreement, the soldiers are not allowed to enter the MILF-influenced communities without prior coordination with the Coordinating Committee for the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH) which has AFP and MILF members as representatives.
The local police forces have conducted investigation together with the local officials.
