NPA bandits bombed a civilian ambulance, 4 civilians wounded


BANSALAN, Davao del Sur-- Four civilan emergency responders from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council were injured when a roadside bomb was detonated by NPA bandits in Sitio Tower here at 7:30pm today (March 2). 

The victims were on board a convoy of marked ambulances owned by the PDRRMC and Philippine Red Cross Davao Chapter when the bandits attacked them with landmines.

A military official who spoke on condition of anonymity said that among those who were wounded include Alberto Cabual, Arnel Generoso, Jun Dumayas and Bonita dela Cruz. They were promptly brought to a local hospital here for treatment. 

The victims were part of the contingent of emergency responders who were sent to collect 9 soldiers who were wounded in a separate  bombing incident that occurred at 11:20 am of the same day.

The soldiers belonging to the 39th Infantry Battalion were conducting security patrol in the hinterland village of Managa here when NPA bandits detonated a bomb as they passed by.

More and more people are joining the calls to denounce the senseless attacks perpetrated by the NPA bandits. 

The use of landmines is prohibited under the International Humanitarian Laws and the local law known as R.A. 9851 which punishes violations to the IHL.

It can be recalled that NPA bandits also bombed a circus show in Paquibato District in Davao City, resulting to the wounding of at least 20 young people.
