Four soldiers injured in the bandit attacks yesterday





ZAMBOANGA CITY--A bomb explosion rocked the Al-Imam-Al Mahdi Mosque inside Campo Islam in this city at 10:50pm, Thursday (Aug 16). No one was hurt in the incident. The Army's EOD and K9 teams were deployed to help the local police investigate the incident and determine the identities of the suspects.


ISABELA CITY, Basilan--A platoon leader of the 15th Special Forces Company was hurt in the landmine explosion in Baiwas village, Sumisip town yesterday. The soldiers were conducting security operations in the forested area  when the improvised bomb exploded. The combat medics were able to treat the officer who sustained minor injury. He  volunteered to continue leading the patrols to pursue the remnants of the bandit group believed to be led by a certain Abu Kik.


GUINDULUNGAN, Maguindanao-Undetermined  number of bandits attacked a military outpost of Bagan village here at around 11:30pm, Thursday (Aug 16). Three soldiers sustained minor shrapnel wounds in the fighting. The soldiers repulsed the attackers who fled with their casualties. The attack followed the seizure of the main base of the BIFF in Hill 261, Datu Hoffer town, Maguindanao. Pursuit operations have been launched to hunt down the bandits who perpetrated the attacks on civilian communities since last week.
