St John the Baptist Church in Tabaco, Albay

When I visited Tabaco City in Albay, this beautiful sight greeted me. This is one of the oldest churches in the country. It  stood there for hundreds of years since the Spanish times. You can find the church just across the local government office.

The original structure was built sometime in the 1600's but it was destroyed by the volcanic eruption of the world-famous Mt. Mayon in 1814. It was rebuilt sometime in the 1860's using the volcanic materials which reduced it to rubbles about five decades earlier.

This is a quick look at the inner part of the church. The mass was about to start when I clicked my cameras to capture these photos. If you wanna explore this church, it is about an hour ride by jeep from Legaspi City, the home of Mt. Mayon.
