Grenade Explosion Hurts a Soldier

An on-duty soldier was slightly injured  in an amusement area called Perya local in Poblacion Carmen, Cotabato late last night, a military report said.

Pfc Elwel Kho of the 7th Infantry Battalion was detailed for security patrol in the said area when a grenade was tossed by an unidentified suspect near a crowded place at around 9:35pm (Nov 14).

Kho sustained minor injuries and was brought to a local hospital in Kabacan City. There were sketchy reports that 'some civilians' were also slightly injured in the blast.

The PNP investigators have conducted inspections at the blast site and some civilians have given testimonies. The motive of the crime remains unknown.

Earlier in the day, at 5:15pm, military EOD teams disabled an improvised explosive device (IED) emplaced along the road of Sitio Mahad, Along village in Buluan town, Maguindanao.

The improvised bomb was made of 60-mm mortar ammunition. It had a mechanical clock and a blasting cap.

The soldiers of the 6th Infantry Division are continuously conducting patrols and checkpoint operations together with the PNP to thwart any violent attacks.
